Meghan is a co-founder and director at SCDC. She spent her youth training as a dancer in Edmonton. She also attended the Banff Centre of Fine Arts, and successfully completed her Advanced II RAD examination as her love for ballet was prominent. Meghan travelled to Los Angeles and New York for various conventions and eventually performed as a lead dancer for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines before coming home to obtain her Bachelor of Commerce Degree while beginning her teaching career at the studio. From preschoolers to studio graduates, Meghan enjoys sharing her love for dance with many students. She strives to bring out each dancer’s very best while being supportive and encouraging. Meghan uses her award-winning expertise to train technically strong and versatile dancers, helping each one to unlock their full potential.
Janel is a co-founder and director at SCDC. After three years of travelling the world as a lead dancer for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, she returned to Edmonton where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the U of A while she taught at the studio part time. It was during this time that she realized her passion for teaching dance and working with children. To complement the classes already being offered at the studio, Janel completed her Intellidance® Certification in 2012 and has been introducing music and movement to our youngest dancers ever since. Janel thrives to provide a nurturing and rewarding community for her dancers and their families.
Allison began her dance training at the age of five and studied various disciplines including jazz, ballet, tap, lyrical and musical theatre styles. Her professional dance career has taken her across Canada and the United States and her passion for the art form grows every day. Allison was a dancer/lead vocalist for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and graduated from the Canadian College of Performing Arts in Victoria, BC with honours. She’s worked for numerous companies across Canada in both theatre and film/tv, and has choreographed countless full scale musicals including West Side Story and Grease. Allison also completed her Bachelor of Education degree with distinction from the University of Alberta majoring in drama and gets to combine her passions of dance and teaching every day at Studio C. She is a certified Pilates mat instructor and most recently, Allison completed her personal training certification, developing a foundational strength training program specifically for dancers.
Amanda began dancing with Casey's Dance Center at the age of five. With her main passion being tap and with having trained in the Al Gilbert Syllabus, throughout the years she has also taken instruction in jazz, hip hop, ballet, musical theatre and lyrical. Amanda has had the pleasure of attending classes and workshops throughout Western Canada as well as through the Broadway Dance Centre in New York City. As a teacher, her students have excelled in competitive dance, receiving numerous awards for performance + choreography.
For over 20 years Danielle has been shaping the lives of children and young adults through the language of dance. She has trained in a diverse range of dance disciplines including ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary and modern. She completed a Dance Diploma at Grant MacEwan College receiving distinction in Composition and performed in multiple pieces. Being a creative artist she choreographed a piece called “WASH” and was selected to perform at the ADA Feats Festival in Edmonton. Her love of contemporary modern dance has also taken her out of Canada, having the opportunity to train and perform at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance and with Lynn Simonson completing her certification in the Simonson Technique for Jazz/Modern in New York City.
Committed and devoted to being an educator of dance and keeping up date Danielle has achieved her Registered Teacher Stance with Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D R.T.S) and has successfully prepared students for ballet exams. She has also achieved her ballet and modern Licentiate certificate with the C.D.T.A, and currently sits on the Alberta branch board as the Modern division coordinator and director. She has also sat on the National board as the National Ballet Consultant and currently involved with the CDTA Modern Syllabus Committee.
Danielle’s creativity and motivating spirit has led many of her students to wonderful successes both on and off stage. She has prepared many students for successful auditions/University auditions for both theatre and dance. She is excited to join and share her passion for dance with the SCDC Team this season.
Emily joins SCDC with more than 15 years of training in multiple art forms under the Hip-Hop umbrella. She has trained and competed in many different places such as Los Angeles, Singapore, Hawaii, Dallas, Vancouver, and Montreal. Emily began teaching 5 years ago, and has a passion for being a role model and dance instructor. Her biggest accomplishment is starting her very own Talent Agency called Essence Talent Management and performing for artists such as Nelly, Jay Sean, and Migos.
Eryn’s love for dance began at a young age. After spending many years taking lessons at CDC, she went on to complete the Theatre Arts program at MacEwan University. Eryn is an elementary educator, currently teaching grade 3 and primary music. She is excited for another season at Studio C and continues to help foster the love and passion for dance in her students.
Kelly grew up dancing at Casey’s from a young age, and is grateful continue her career as a member the teaching staff at SCDC. She has a Bachelor of Education degree from the U of A and is currently a high school teacher with Edmonton Public Schools. Kelly is thrilled to be teaching classes in jazz, tap, lyrical and hip hop in the coming dance season.
Julia began dancing at her home studio in Fort McMurray at the age of 5 where she was trained in many genres of dance including hip hop, jazz, ballet, and musical theatre. She has been teaching dance for over 6 years, teaching students from the ages of 2 all the way up to 16. Julia is in her second year at the University of Alberta taking Elementary Education in the hopes to become a teacher. Julia loves working with children and is looking forward to getting to show her love of dance with her future students! She can’t wait for the season to start!
Lexie began dancing at Casey’s Dance Centre at the age of 3 and has formally trained in tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, musical theatre, modern, contemporary, and hip hop. At the age of 12 she became a dance teacher assistant and has been a primary instructor since 2015. Earning her Business Diploma from NAIT in 2018, she also continued to pursue formal dance training through dedicated instructor certification programs such as Acrobatic Arts (AA), International Dance Teaching Standards (IDTS), Alixa Flexibility Method (AFM), CPR and First Aid. Currently, she specializes in instructing in Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, and Acro for a wide variety of ages from as young as 5 all the way up to age 17. Additionally, Lexie has been invited to be an Artist in Residence and frequently guest teaches and choreographs for Edmonton Public School’s dance programs.
Peyton grew up dancing at Casey's and has been teaching at SCDC since 2015. She has a Bachelor of Education from the U of A and is currently an elementary teacher with Edmonton Public Schools. Peyton is a Certified Acrobatic Arts teacher and is looking forward to a fun and exciting year!
Shayna started dancing at Casey’s when she was three years old and has trained in jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, musical theatre, lyrical, and modern. She has travelled with to New York to take classes at the Broadway Dance Centre, performed at Edmonton Oil Kings games, and performed on three cruise ships. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Alberta, and is eager to continue learning and teaching in order to bring out the best in every dancer she meets.
Tristan began dancing at Casey’s Dance Center at the age of three. Some highlights of her time as a student include dancing on a Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship and travelling to New York City to take classes at Broadway Dance Center. As well as taking classes at the studio, Tristan also trained with her high school’s dance program where she received the Fine Arts Certificate of Achievement for Choreographers Choice award. Currently, she attends the U of A where she continues her dance training through MOD contemporary dance movement. Tristan is looking forward to graduating this Spring with a Bachelor of Elementary Education degree.
